The scariest thing on the St. Louis list is underground. Lemp Brewery Haunted House sits in the caves under a historic brewery, and from what they post it's pitch black and physically demanding, with demons, mazes and occult themes. They say 2026 is year 31. Be warned: it's 17 and up unless you're with an adult. Creepyworld Screampark out in Fenton is the bigger sprawl, with 13 haunted attractions, a hayride, a midway and a five-minute escape room. Buy online if you don't want to stand at the box office.
St. Louis also does Halloween with a drink in hand. Spirits in the Garden at the Missouri Botanical Garden on Oct 23 is a 21+ night of distillery tastings, a haunted tram ride and a costume contest, $35 general admission. For a free night, Ghost Stories and Guitars at the Missouri History Museum on Oct 29 has Halloween rock hits and ghost stories around a courtyard bonfire. If your kids are little, I'd point you to Jack's Lighted Trail at Eckert's Belleville Farm instead. It's glowing pumpkin sculptures in a cornfield. Basically no scares. FYI: it's credit card only, at the gate and along the trail.
