Haunted housesTrails & hayridesGhost toursNot too scary

Most of the real scaring around Seattle happens out past the city limits. Nile Nightmares Haunted House in Mountlake Terrace is the big one, a no-touch haunt with multiple scare zones and a 21+ Fear Garden. Haunted Forest of Maple Valley: Terror Rising is volunteer-run and benefits local youth charities. It's a nearly mile-long trail through the forest and into an asylum. General admission is $20, and there's a $7 Family Walk. Heads up: carpool, because the lot can close when it fills.

Corn people should look at Stalker Farms Haunted Attractions in Snohomish. It runs several haunted trails through the corn, plus an un-haunted corn maze you can wander in the dark. Plan ahead, though: outside food isn't allowed unless you rent a private campfire. Back in town, Seattle Terrors Ghost Tours walks past the Gum Wall and the Moore Theatre for $26. Show up 15 minutes early. They leave on time and don't wait for anybody.
