Short list here, and that's on purpose. Only places that posted 2026 dates make it. Of those, Halloween Haunt at Kings Dominion is the big one, with haunted mazes, scare zones and live shows. Heads up: anyone 17 or under needs a chaperone who's at least 21 with a photo ID. Total Terror Haunt at the Powhatan Fairgrounds is the more intense pick, at least on paper. Expect fog, strobes, damp spots and low visibility.
Half the list is ghost tours. Haunts of Richmond Ghost Tours walks past the Poe Museum, Monumental Church and the State Capitol, and it's fine for ages 5 and up. Wear good shoes, there's brick and some inclines. The 21+ crowd can do the haunted pub crawl through Shockoe Bottom instead. For small kids, the Eerie Canal Halloween Cruises are 20-minute narrated boat rides with candy, for $6. They say it's best for ages 7 and up.
