Quick geography lesson: a lot of Providence's scariest stuff is actually in Massachusetts. Fear Town Haunted House is six miles out at Seekonk Speedway, with three haunted houses and more than 45 minutes of scares. It's not recommended for kids under 12. Fall River has a haunt inside a 125-year-old factory, plus Lizzie Borden House Tours and Stays, the actual house where the 1892 axe murders happened. Tours are for ages 10 and up. Back in Rhode Island, 13th World Fright Park in Cumberland has a Buried Alive simulator. Your call.
The most Providence thing on the list is Providence Haunted Boat Rides, a 50-minute ghost story cruise through downtown on an open-air boat ($35 for adults, ages 10 and up). Heads up: at both Fear Town and 13th World, buying online saves you $5 a ticket. And on Halloween night, Fort Adams in Newport runs an 18+ paranormal investigation where you use the equipment yourself.
