About 31 miles south of town, you can shoot live zombies from trailers pulled by five-ton army trucks. That's the Zombie Paintball Hayride at Millers Thrillers Haunted Woods in Columbia, and they also run an unguided haunted woods trail called Hillbilly Hollar. Buy tickets online before you go. The ticket line can run up to an hour.

Closer in, Nashville Nightmare Haunted House in Madison has the licensed Jason walkthrough, a mummy laser maze and a Gellyball zombie gallery, and it's recommended for 12 and up. Creepy Hollow Haunted Woods in Spring Hill sells tickets only at the door, and cash is faster. For something older and stranger, October at the Bell Witch Cave runs guided cave tours with the Bell Witch stories, plus a cabin tour. Check the weather first.
