Haunted houses in Madison

Four places. That's the whole Madison list right now, because I only include spots that have posted 2026 dates. Luckily, two of them are outdoor haunts with a gimmick. Terror at Tyrol in Mount Horeb starts with a mandatory chairlift ride up the hill, then you go on foot through dark woods, a stone maze and tight enclosed spaces. Budget 45 minutes to an hour and a half, not counting the line. Schuster's Haunted Forest in Deerfield takes you into the woods by wagon, then you walk a dimly lit trail. Both recommend 13 and up.

Plan ahead, though: Schuster's time slots often sell out, and tickets are rarely available on-site. The weird one is The Dark Side at The House on the Rock in Spring Green, a self-guided walk through the dim parts of the complex, past the carousel and the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.
