Jacksonville proper keeps it simple: one big haunt and one smaller one. 13th Floor Haunted House Jacksonville is the scary pick, with an infected high school, a ghost ship and an asylum, plus mini escape games and a GellyBall setup where you shoot live zombie actors. They warn it may be too intense for kids 12 and under. Halls of Terror Haunted House is the all-ages option, and there's a full bar and restaurant on site. Parents, take note.
For ghosts, I'd make the drive to St. Augustine, about 37 miles away. That's where every ghost tour on this list is, from family-friendly walks past the Castillo de San Marcos to a 21+ pub tour that hands each adult an EMF meter. There's even a haunted history boat tour on Matanzas Bay. Back near Ponte Vedra Beach, the EstuSCARY Haunted Trail at GTM Research Reserve does a guided haunted walk along the South Beach Hammock Trail, Oct 29 to 31 only.
