Want the actors to actually grab you? Creepy Hollow Haunted House out in Rosharon is a full-contact haunt, so yes, they will. (Heads up: a No Touch Pass is $10 if you'd rather they didn't.) If you want volume instead, Phobia Haunted Houses runs ten haunts across two locations, and 13th Floor Haunted House Houston has a licensed Jason walkthrough plus mini escape games and a GellyBall zombie range. That's a lot of screaming for one city.
Check the age rules before you buy. Phobia's minimum is 16 with signed parental permission, and 13th Floor says it may be too intense for kids 12 and under. If you've got younger ones, the Houston Ghost Tour in Hermann Park has a family version for ages 6 and up, and a fire station in League City sets up a free haunted house for older kids on Halloween. Grown-ups can do the cemetery walk in Pearland that starts and ends at a brewery. Two drink tokens are included.
