Get out of town for the scary stuff. Homestead Haunt: Nights of Fright in Williston runs two haunted houses, and after 9:30 p.m. it switches to Insanity Mode, which means lights out and you get a headlamp. Buy online, since it's $35 for both houses there and $40 at the door. Nearby, The ScaryTrain at Kirby Family Farm is a woods trail hiding a compound of deranged clowns. So if clowns are your thing, or your worst nightmare, that's your stop.
The rest is mostly farm haunts that bundle a haunted house, a hayride and a corn maze together. Newberry's version throws in a mechanical zombie bull and human hamster balls, both cash only. Why not. For a mixed group, I'd go with Ichetucknee Springs Spooky Springs in Fort White on Oct 23 and 24. You choose High Spooky or Low Spooky, so the brave ones can take the haunted tram while little kids do the trick-or-treat tube maze. Budget for the state park entry on top of the $15 ticket.
