USS Nightmare is set on a historic steam dredge on the Ohio River in Newport, Kentucky, with more than 40 scenes across two decks, and there's an all-ages matinee for kids. In Cincinnati proper, The Dent Schoolhouse Haunted Attraction is celebrating 30 years. The story is a murderous janitor and some very bad faculty. Time slots can sell out, so buy online.
If you want a whole night out of it, Cincinnati Fear Fest in Williamsburg is a scream park with multiple haunted houses, a ghost-town midway and secret bars. Most people spend 2.5 to 4 hours there. Wear closed-toe shoes and skip the dangly jewelry. Rather hear a story than get chased? Ghost Tours of Music Hall goes after hours into parts of the building concertgoers never see, for $45. It's built over an old potter's field. Of course it is.
