More than half of this list is ghost tours. There's a walking tour, a trolley tour, an adults-only comedy bus and a pub crawl. If you only do one, I'd start with Haunted Asheville Ghost Tours. It's a 1.5-mile walk (about two hours) that covers the Pink Lady at the Grove Park Inn and Helen's Bridge, and it's $26.95 for adults, $14.95 for 14 and under. Check in 10 minutes early in the alley behind the Masonic Temple.
The real scares are out of town. The Haunted Farm in Hendersonville is a self-guided walk through a farm built around a family blood feud, with chicken runs if you need out. It runs through Nov 8, and no cameras inside. Pinhead's Graveyard in Canton fills a century-old building with Pinhead, Michael Myers, Freddy Krueger and Leatherface. Bring cash. It's cash only at the door. Got little ones? The Haunted Trail at Adventure Center of Asheville does an actor-free daytime version for ages 3 to 12.
